This book is an introduction to the problem of child sexual abuse for the layperson. The book describes the problem of child sexual abuse and how victims try to cope with it. Also described are the following: the child protection system; the issue of native self-determination; local action which can be taken to address child abuse and steps by Aboriginal community groups; and ideas for prevention programs and support groups. The book includes a bibliography of references on child sexual abuse. Appendices include: interviewing guideslines for band social workers and a glossary of terms.
