Description

This wire-spiral-bound manual was developed in response to the need to improve the quality, quantity, and comparability of international data on physical and sexual abuse of women. It outlines some of the methodological and ethical challenges of conducting research on violence against women, and describes techniques that have been used to address these challenges. Concentrating on applied research as opposed to academic or theoretical work, and with a focus on the issue of violence against women by their intimate partners, the manual is directed particularly to researchers, community workers, activists, and service providers working at the intersection of violence and health in developing countries. Appendices offer the WHO Violence Against Women instrument, training exercises for interviewers, and annotated print, electronic, and organizational resources. Annotation – 2006 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com) Distributed by Syndetic Solutions, Inc.
