Research Library

Drawn by Barentsz, and adapted and published by Cornelis Claeszoon of The Hague 1599.

In 2009, ICHR began the development of a circumpolar health research library as part of its commitment to developing and sustaining research resources in the North. The library will include published titles and periodicals as well as grey literature including government reports, northern reflections, etc. We are also working to aggregate health research done in the North by and for Northerners. Many publications documenting Northern health research and programs over the past several decades are difficult to locate or are not found in the North. We would like to change this.

How can you help?

  • Add us to your mailing list for recent and upcoming publications
  • Let us know which reports you worked on or publications that you used for circumpolar health research
  • Send us bibliographies or lists of references
  • Donate materials you have to us

The emphasis of the collection is circumpolar health research – past and present – and we are particularly interested in ‘hard-to-find’ reports, dissertations, books, and community-based or regional studies done in English throughout the international circumpolar health community. We are also establishing a historical circumpolar collection to collect works related to all circumpolar research, science and exploration. Publications documenting the establishment of research institutes and policies in circumpolar regions are also welcome.
